Love these sketch books!

I love how these sketchbooks are bound. The pages can open flat if you want to work across 2 pages or keep the book open for reference. There is no spiral binding to catch on the things or create a gap between pages. The grey is a nice mid value and, although a bit more tooth would be nice, it takes black and white conte pencil which was the point of this purchase. It also tolerates light applications of gouache if you don't mind some wrinkled pages (which I do not). At 120 sheets in each book, it is a good value. They are a tad heavy if you want to hold the sketchbook in one hand. But that might just be my old arthritic thumb... I did search and found the SoHo Urban Artist Brick Journal with only 80 sheets to a book. But the heavier covers and 6"x9" size (although even the cover says it is 5.5"x8.5") make it weigh about the same. I wound up liking the sturdy covers for travel and the paper also seemed to have a bit more substance and tooth.
