The truth of the matter is that over the years the pan bolts are over-tightened, causing the pan rail to become deformed, which reduces gasket effectiveness, causing leaks. The cast aluminum Turbo 350 pan features thick aluminum construction that does not flex with a precisely machined gasket surface (just like the transmission case it is mating to) for maximum gasket surface area. You won’t be deforming this gasket surface! The pan’s cast construction provides additional transmission case strength as well (which is why you see OEMs moving to cast oil pans).
