I gave it to a 7 year old for her birthday. She has decided her favorite pet is a ferret. She was thrilled. She was also delighted with the stuffed animal ferret I also sent, since her parents had said she could not have a real one!! The book has wonderful pictures and questions to promote further learning about the ferret. The vocabulary is geared to a beginning reader and should not require a lot of adult help.
