Diamond Wool Contoured Shim Pressure Relief Square Pad 30x30 1 inch, Tan

My horse, Lucky is very difficult to fit a saddle. He is a chunky monkey with very large shoulders and chest area. On top of being very broad, he has high withers. Almost every saddle I have tried needs to be wide for his shoulders but then sits too close to his withers. The Diamond Wool Contoured Relief Pad works really well to lift up the saddle so it doesn't restrict his shoulders and rub his withers. There are 3 removable pads, in pockets, along each side so you can adjust the pad to fit your horse. I have actually had to use the front pocket and the front half of the second pocket to make the saddle sit level and be comfortable for my horse. It is also nice that it has a large wither relief cutout for his prominent withers. The bottom is thick wool felt and is contoured along the spine for the best fit. The shims are a 1/2" thick wool felt. You can double up the shims to meet the fitting needs of your horse. They are very easy to change and rearrange to make them suitable for all horse body types. It is a wool felt bottom pad, so it is not machine washable. I brush off the top with a stiff brush and curry the wool bottom. This removes the hair. sweat and dirt. It dries out pretty quickly if it is left in a well-ventaliated area. I have also used a Back on Track Western Saddle Liner to keep the underside clean and free from sweat and odor. I highly recommend this pad to everyone. Even if you have an easy horse to saddle fit. It's simply a really nice saddle pad with or without the shims!
