Dickies Men's Thermal Steel Toe Buffalo Plaid Crew Sock, 2-Pack

As a New Yawk'er living in the Sunshine State the idea of needing warm socks sounds preposterous. Yet, having lived under the fiery glare of an ever-present angry sun for 9 years I can claim it is true. How so? Well, about 3 or 4 times a year it gets cool enough to venture outside for more than 5 minutes without the fear of melting. You might even be tempted to go hiking and now you need warm, comfortable socks--socks that do not have cotton to absorb any sweat! What prompted me to select these socks was the fact these are cotton-free because warm socks must stay dry or else, 'You're not going to have good time.' These socks made that criteria. As to the idea of Steel Toe, that is marketing hoopla--please see attached photo--it is simply a reinforced toe idea adding extra comfort up front, But there is no steel in these socks, which is fine by me.

These socks are great! They fit really well (I'm a size 10 and the socks stretch to fit just fine without being too tight) and do keep my feet warm, particularly in the winter time. The socks are made of wool (or some kind of wool composite) and are very thick and comfortable. There is a nice bounce to the socks in terms of cushioning and it does span my entire leg nearly up to my knee. I can appreciate these socks in particular when I'm in the snow and need some added insulation for my lower extremities. The pattern on the socks look great, and per the instructions, we are to wash them with warm water and tumble dry on low. I can see these socks being used for any outdoorsy type of person or someone in construction.
