Stainless kitchen knives will not take a tool edge. You can only make them have a scratchy edge. This sharpening tool really works. If the knife is really dull you need to take some metal off with a stone or wheel. Then only 3 of 4 passes with the Acusharp does the trick. Use it very often and only one or two passes makes the knife cut perfectly.
