When Tate court is demolished, it releases evil that has been buried within its grounds for hundreds of years. The spirit of Elena Ardelean is released and she is bent on revenge for being sentenced to death by Judge Oliver Winchester who believed her to be a vampire. There are only three vampire daggers in the whole world. The Judge ordered his successors at Tate Court to guard two of them, but they failed miserably. 'By order of Judge Oliver Winchester on 21st June 1820 the weapons duly acquired from Elena Ardelean deceased be conferred upon the Judges of Tate Court TO HOLD the same UNTIL their use by the chosen ones. The last criminal he experimented on at Tate Court was Jeffrey Dracup. He escaped with one of the vampire daggers from the court cellar. Both Roger Hardy's body and that of Jeffrey Dracup are missing. That was five years ago and the court prison cells were blocked up after that incident. Her mother collects her and takes her back to Tate Court where she works. Emma finds one of the daggers when she helps clear out Tate court just before the building is knocked down for good. She thinks it might be worth something and takes it home with her. She finds it unnerving so she asks her friend Lina to keep it at her home. Whilst guarding the dagger, Judge Oliver Winchester as protector of the dagger appears to her. The Judge is like a knight on a secret mission as protector of the vampire daggers. Once back at school, Lina tells Emma about this and the Judge appears to them both.
