Our triple function water softening filter (sponge, active carbon, ion exchange) is intended only for use with our HealthSpring Pet Fountain. The sponge removes larger particles such as food, hair, and debris. The active carbon removes bad taste, odors and chemicals from tap water. Lastly, the ion exchange resin softens hard water and helps extend the life of the pump by removing calcium and magnesium.  This triple action filtering power helps to ensure a long life of operation and the enjoyment of cleaner water.  It is recommended to change the filter once a month.
