Sometimes I sit and listen, and sometimes I feel!

Why has this album received many praises from critics and fans alike? If I knew the true answer I probably wouldn't be working for an hourly wage. (Or maybe I would just for kicks). To me at least, this album is both easily digestible and challenging at the same time. Easily digestible because the music blasts in your face like some sort of fun rock carnival reminiscent of Dylan's Highway 61. You got blues (the 7 minute track "Small Poppies"), you got indie, you have traces of grunge, garage rock, and remnants of previous alternative Gods looking over your shoulder. Challenging because of the seemingly slacker nonsense lyrics, which she spews mostly in spoken word. It's like she is just speaking random jargon that comes to her mind while watching TV or while doing any other activity. But all the seeming nonsense seems to hit home, with lines like: "Wondering what you're doing, what you're listening to, which quarter of the moon you're viewing from the bedroom". In summary: the music blasts in your face, along with the witty deadpan lyrics which allows more freedom to your imagination. This debut album is simply superb!
