As my first 100cc gasser size plane, I couldn't be happier. It's a great confidence builder simply due to the fact it's a 4 channel plane (back to basics!) With the symmetrical wing, it's ready to barnstorm all over the sky as soon as you are comfortable with the handling. With 40Lbs+ of girth, it demands your respect in the landing pattern. It's also surprisingly clean despite the wing struts and tail wires; power, speed and altitude all need to be managed during the landing. In this part of the flight envelope, it is nothing like a .40 or .60 glow plane but still a very stable platform for learning the skills needed to fly heavy gas scale planes. 4 out 5 stars on quality was only due to the cloudy window issue on the early production run. Personally, I didn't really mind this and it's not what you and your fellow flyers will focus on when it is airborne. I am 100% satisfied with this purchase!
My Specs:
DA-100 (stock DA mufflers)
Tru-Turn Ultimate spinner (Horizon was out of P-51 spinners)
Xoar 27X10 Sword prop year 1 (switching to Biela 27X10 fiberglass next season)
Spektrum 9ch power safe RX (DSMX)
5 JR DS8911HV servos on surfaces
JR DS821HV on throttle
Powerbox Spark Switch module for safety/cutoff on ignition
3 Duralite A123 2-cell packs (2500 mah ea.) The two packs on the radio have EC3 plugs, ignition is a standard plug.
JR 12X (DSMX) transmitter
All JR heavy duty gold extensions per instructions.
(I used the HV servos to eliminate regulators in the radio system. Works out to be about $40 cheaper on the total radio package and you have more servo than you will ever need on a plane like this!)
My normal flight time is 12 to 14 minutes and I only burn half a tank.
