Floral waxes are plant waxes made from flowers. During production waxes such as beeswax are not added, the resulting wax is a result of separation of the concrete as explained below. Floral waxes are usually produced from delicate flowers in order to retain their fragrance. Steam distillation would destroy the fragile scent molecules. Freshly picked, carefully selected flower heads are mixed with a solvent to produce a concrete. When mixed with a high proof alcohol and then chilled, the concrete separates into a fragrant liquid and a waxy solid. (To make an absolute, the alcohol is removed from the liquid via evaporation, leaving the absolute.) Floral waxes are less expensive than absolutes and add emolliency, scent and color to creams and lotions. Recommended use rate is up to 10%. Floral waxes also work very well for scenting lotions; 1 oz. of floral wax is equivalent to about 1/2 oz. of the corresponding absolute. Floral waxes work well to scent a lotion or other body product, a tiny amount is all that's needed to scent the complete recipe. Melt the wax over very low heat and add it to your recipe. Floral wax usually constitutes 2% of a final recipe. Floral wax might be too expensive to use in CP or HP soap, you'd need to use too much to get scent without it getting lost in the process. Large portions of the wax are unsaponifiable, so your soap might actually feel a bit & waxy” by the time you added enough to get a noticeable scent. Floral waxes can be used to scent a product it all depends on how strong a scent you want. It's advisable to keep your floral wax usage to below 10% of the final product weight. Most floral waxes are strongly scented enough that you will have a fair amount of fragrance coming through at that ratio. Do not breathe dust; store cool & dry.
