Uniden 25W Fixed Mount VHF Marine Radio with DSC, White, UM435

It's so bright and new so it looks great on the boat

This radio has all the bells and whistles and the manual is well written. I prefer to keep my radio out of the weather on my 18 ft open fisherman that does not have a top. The radio is mounted it inside my enclosed console. To hear the radio while the engine is running i have an external speaker on my dash. This radio does not have a jack to plug in the external speaker so one has to cut off the plug on the speaker cable and connect two very thin wires to two other very thin wires that are part of a accessory cable bundle of eight wires. In others words, one has strip the accesory cord down and isolate two very thin wires from a bundle. The wires are so thin that i feel the connection is rather delicate. i feel a jack on the radio for an external speaker would be far better option for extrnal speaker realibility. That said, this radio is designed to be plugged into a chart plotter which i do not have on my small boat and prefet to use two handheld GPS units for navigation, since they are portable and can be moved to another small aluminum jon boat i have for backcounty forays in the Everglades Park.
