HORRIBLE SMELL

I was disappointed with this bansuri, mainly because of the horrible smell that never went away. I'm not joking when I say that this flute smelled like burnt Canadian bacon, which it truly did. I know this has something to do with the burning process, but if all bansuris smell like this, I'll stick with the Chinese dizi as my bamboo flute of choice, because I've never had one that smelled rancid like this one. I also noticed that compared to the dizi, some of the tone holes were larger and unevenly spaced (by design), making it a harder instrument to master. I don't mind the challenge of that, but I was getting too nauseous from the smell to continue playing it. I gave it two stars because it did come with a nice protective case, the flute's only asset.
