This cleaver is VERY SHARP! Now I have to go out and buy a sharpener because of the 17 degree bevel. I use it mostly for vegetables but when picking up the veggies *be careful*! You can nick yourself because it's so sharp you might not even feel it. It's all about knife skills. Great cleaver but be sure you are up to speed on your knife skills Alan
