Nice Hat That can be Resized

First I will say I love the quality of these hats. They are very comfortable to wear. My head is bigger than the largest size these come in. I took a risk a bought one anyway. A lot of people complain about the size, but it is an easy fix! I bought one of each material constructions. The 100% cotton one is the easiest to stretch and the 50% nylon is the toughest to stretch. The remaining one is somewhere in the middle. I was able to stretch all of the hats enough to fit me. The 50% nylon was the toughest to stretch, but I was able to get it stretched enough to fit me. You have to be careful stretching the 100% cotton one or it will over stretch and you will then need to shrink it. I over stretched mine, but shrinking back was easy. Here is how to do it. I used one of those bar clamps like you get at Harbor Freight that you squeeze by hand. In the normal position it clamps items together. If you unscrew and reverse the end piece, it becomes an expander, and can be used to spread things apart instead of together. You will need to take your hat and either wash it or soak it in warm to hot water. Next center the hat brim and the back of the hat band in the spreader clamp and begin to expand the hat. With the hat band centered with the brim it won't loose its shape. You may need to reshape it slightly later, but that isn't a problem. After you expand your hat to where you think it will fit, let it dry completely before removing the expander clamp. I put mine near a heater to speed things up. If you happen to overstretch your hat all you need to do is repeat the step of washing or soaking in warm to hot water and it will shrink back down. You will then probably need to expand again, just not as much this time. The first time I expanded the 100% cotton one it was huge! That 100% cotton will really stretch a lot, so be more careful not to overstretch it. The 50% nylon is much tougher to stretch, so you will probably have to put some force into stretching it. The first time I put a lot of strength into stretching all 3 different hats and didn't bust any seams or anything. After wearing the hats and sweating, they did tighten up a bit, but I just expanded slightly again. They seem to be adjusting to the size I need as time goes by. I am happy with my hats and prefer them over the adjustable baseball type caps. Just take a little time and I think you can customise your hat to your head as I have.
