Kevo Lock

I use this lock everyday for the past 10 months. I have had only two issues with the lock since I have owned it. #1 was trying to tie in the kevo hub so I could use my cell phone from anywhere to unlock the door. Turned out I needed to do a software update on my Kevo to get it to work. #2 lock has stopped working twice, I figured out the battery pack wasn't making contact so I bent up the contacts and issue was fixed. Other than those two issues the lock works great. I have mine setup so I can tap it and walk away and it locks. I think if I get smart things I can set it up so if the door is unlocked for 45 minutes it auto locks. That would be great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

High expectations

I absolutely love Kēvo and it functions, completely separates itself from any other smart door lock. I have to address some major issues I have with this 2nd gen. 1) the lack of Apples HomeKit compatibility is a major disappointment 2) you can't name key fobs for viewing of lock history 3) has not adopted "works with XFINITY" home security app 4) it should use some other type geofencing instead of Bluetooth only, Bluetooth seems to seriously drain the phone battery. 5) Kēvo plus should have been built into this 2nd gen and not a add on. I had high expectations and expected way more from this 2nd gen. Still impressed, I have it installed on my vacation condo and fits all my essential needs; remotely send ekeys, remotely lock/unlock, and view current status (with my added purchase of Kēvo plus of $80) I'm holding out on installing for my home front, side, and back door until it becomes Apple HomeKit compatible, I don't want to fumble with 10 different apps I'd like everything to work seamlessly with HomeKit and Siri. Great concept, well built solid lock

I have had this lock for over 6 months now and it works well. It looks great, smartkey is a + and so far its been doing what it is advertised to do. It loses one star due to lack of compatible phones. I am left with using the key fob The problem with that is speed at which it gets detected and opens the lock can be much quicker. Sometimes it has to be taken out of the pocket/purse to get detected. Loses another star for lack of compatibility with home automation vendors. I understand that this is a Bluetooth device and this is not an advertised feature, but since there is a Bluetooth hub (Kevo Plus) that sells separately at an astronomical C$179.00, it lacks simple compatibility with reputed home automation hubs. It would have been really nice to see Kevo coming together with IOT makers and stretching the use case to a whole different level by making this a simple affordable solution. As far as the lock is concerned, I'm still proud to boast this on my new front door. It works well, batteries are still holding up since it was installed 6 months ago. Hi Tomsm, Thank you for the feedback on your Kevo smart lock, we really appreciate it. We do have a few recent updated to Kevo and the Kevo App that we'd like to share. First, we've expanded our coverage for Android. Please see this blog post for more information: http://www.smartsecurityblog.com/kevo-smart-lock-2nd-gen-android-app Second, we recently integrated with IFTTT to connect Kevo to a wide range of IOT devices. More information on our IFTTT connection can be found here: http://www.smartsecurityblog.com/kevo-works-with-ifttt/. Thanks, Kwikset
