The wood quality is not great. We purchased it to sit on to put our shoes on as well as a style statement. It failed with the former but is a great design statement. The first time my husband of 180 lbs sat on it the wood cracked. Not at a joint but within the wood slab. My conclusion is that the quality does not warrant the price.
