Turnovers can be the difference between winning a game and losing it. The team that typically wins the turnover battle is victorious at the buzzer. In this video, John Giannini shares the strategies he uses in practice to help his team minimize turnovers in game-day situations.

This video includes 10 practice drills designed to reduce turnovers and help players gain confidence in handling pressure situations. Using whiteboard discussion and on-court demonstrations, Coach Giannini shares a 40-minute workout he uses daily. His workouts and drills have helped La Salle reduce turnovers from an average of 14 per game to 11 per game in just one year.

Each drill is designed to teach players how to apply relentless pressure on defense as the offense learns how to handle and complete passes against pressure defense. Coach Giannini uses full- and half-court drills that develop several skills, including the ability to avoid turnovers in the open court. From simple drills like the 3 on 2/2 on 1, full court 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, to jump stop drill and La Salle's two-minute "play hard" drill, your players will improve their ball handling skills and will pass with confidence as they learn to cut and get open on their own.

The energy generated in practice sessions carries over to game situations. Players will become more consistent as they learn how to cut to get open effectively using screens and angles on the court. Coach Giannini also discusses ways to hold players accountable during each drill.

Reducing turnovers is an important aspect of the game and every player can improve on it. This is a must-have video for coaches and players looking to become more consistent against pressure defense.
