7 oz Dap 18744 Alex Plus Spackling

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Over the years, I have mended more drywall and plaster than I can count and it is usually a painful experience involving mixing compounds, messy and wasteful with leftovers to discard. The DAP Alex Plus Spackle (7oz squeeze tube) is just the right size for ongoing household use and the design of the lid will keep this smooth premixed compound soft and usable for many applications. The latest one was to mend around a number of power outlets, chipped drywall and hard to reach. I cut the nozzle on a fine slant and with that was able to make any holes disappear immediately and then painted (after an hour) to match the room. No hairline drying cracks at all. Nice professional finish because the mixture is silky smooth and not gritty. Note that I attended to this job in 90°F dry heat. Drying time will differ in extreme humidity. Excellent illustrated instruction page included. Following these to the letter will make a huge difference to the finish. The clean up was minimal: I used cold water before the DAP dried. Store vertically on its cap to prevent any air getting in and you will have it on hand for months. Professionals or house-flippers will love the large tub but for household use, the 7oz tube should be sufficient - it goes a very long way. I'll keep an eye out for this brand from now on as many others have been disappointing.

I keep this spackling handy when I need to fill in holes, from previously hung pictures and home decor and this stuff does the job. I was taught by my grandpa, so I use my fingers and the easy to use tube makes it cleaner then when I would stick my finger in the tub... I like the tube to have on hand for smaller jobs. I will definitely be purchasing this after I finish this tube.
