Now, 100 years later, Cowboy Cereal is a Montana tradition. In Montana, we take pride in our simple values and common sense. Montana hard red wheat is a storehouse of nutrients. And, since we retain the entire kernel in our milling process, it is not necessary to fortify our cereal. Cream of the West Roasted Wheat is naturally low in fat, and rich in protein, fiber, complex carbohydrates, essential amino acids, and iron. We never add salt or sugar, or use preservatives. At Cream of the West we are committed to sustaining our bountiful lands, supporting our agricultural communities, and making healthy, wholesome cereals that are naturally delicious - a difference you can taste! Cream of the west roasted wheat uses the entire kernel!
- Farina: 83% of the wheat kernel. The source for white flour. Using farina alone, you lose all B vitamins and iron.
- Bran: 14% of the wheat kernel. Included in whole wheat flour but often removed in other hot cereals. Contains 86% of the kernel's niacin.
- Germ: 2-1/2% of the wheat kernel. Contains a high percentage of thiamin (Which helps in the digestive process). 100 years of whole grain tradition! The occasional black hulls that are sometimes seen in Roasted Wheat are the result of a few wild buckwheat kernels whose tender hulls scorch easily during the milling process.
