Classic Brands Mercer 12" Cool Gel Hybrid Mattress, California King

The Modern Sleep Plush 12-Inch Hybrid Cool Gel Memory Foam and Innerspring Mattress shipped to me, very well packaged and was rolled up tightly in a long rectangular box. I'd imagined it would have been shipped and unrolled being an innerspring, hybrid mattress, but not so, it was very tightly compressed and rolled up. I also initially thought that maybe it'd be like a can of biscuits when I opened up the box. It was nothing like it. It had a very tightly rolled compressed mattress in a vacuum sealed bag and then wrapped tightly around with a thick sheet of plastic. The mattress is extremely heavy. (For me it was anyway). It weighs 93 lbs. I had a very difficult time dragging it back to my bedroom from where it was dropped off at the garage. I couldn't find anyone to help me set this up so I did it on my own with a little trouble, but I got it done eventually. The hardest part for me doing it alone was bringing it inside and dragging it to my room. I did not have access to a hand truck to assist me at the time. Unboxing it was a bit of a challenge. I cut the box open with a good pair of scissors and rolled it to the bed and then stood it up on one side and leaned it onto the bed and then dropped it on top of the foundation. I then rolled it and flipped it to where the quilted top would be facing up. That didn't matter as the plastic had to be unrolled off the rolled mattress encased within a vacuum sealed bag. Once that was done, I was able to unroll it slightly but found I had to flip it over again and do it over to keep the quilted top facing up. It wasn't too terribly difficult to do on my own. Then I decompressed the bag as per the directions by cutting the edge carefully down the sides and it decompressed very quickly. In fact it was nearly at full height before I'd managed to finished cutting one side and at the foot of the mattress. I was able to slide the plastic off (including underneath the mattress) without having to lift it off the foundation or wrestle too much with it. Overall setup was very easy except the lifting part. The mattress did have some odor to it as it said it might have. It was not too terribly strong. I usually cannot go anywhere near things that are strong smelling such as cleaning agents and air freshener products and most scented cosmetic and hygiene products without inducing a severe migraine and sometimes to the point of passing out within seconds to a couple minutes of exposure and ending up in the hospital. It did not cause me a headache or to pass out and the odor dissipated within a couple hours. It smelled kind of like an adhesive product or polish of some kind. The mattress decompressed quickly and was at its full height within about 10 hours time. I was able to get to sleep on it within 12 hour of setting it up and I must say that I am exceedingly impressed with how comfortable it is. I tested the gel infused layer claiming the heat dispersion by putting on a single fitted, cotton sheet and laying down in the nude and covering up with body heat trapping blanket. It dispersed the heat very well and I had no hot spots and I hardly had to move at all. The mattress, upon initial inspection, seemed to be very well constructed and gave me the impression that it was indeed quite durable and was aesthetically pleasing. The mattress was firm but not too hard and it gave easily with adjusting positions. It did not have much resistance and it felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. I made sure to try sleeping in as many different positions as I physically could in as many parts and sections of the mattress as I could. There wasn't a single spot that felt uncomfortable. The mattress has decent shock absorption as well and didn't make any noise when any kind of vertical or lateral motion was inflicted and intensified while on the mattress. My overall opinion of this mattress: It's heavy, but very much worth the effort put in for setup and the financial burden. I would gladly play the asking price and if I could, I would buy seven more of them for all of my friends and other family members! I absolutely love this mattress and it is divine when it comes to dealing with my hot flashes, and broken floating rib, achy bones and back. I'm pretty heavy and it didn't seem to make any difference where or how my 220 lbs flopped around on it. I have a prominent 'caboose' and it was very accommodating to me. Buy it and love it!

i have been tossing and turning on an old bed from my yacht. Decided to reward myself and upgrade my bedding. After looking into major mattress outlets I was scared away by the astronomical prices. The assortment and price range at Walmart.com was extensive. My choice is so good I do not wish to get out of my new bed. At 77 years of age I have that option.
