Always good
Don't waste your time and cooking power on the so-called steel cut oats which are the same oats with a coarser cut. These are good with 3 minutes of slow simmer followed by 3 minutes of sitting in the covered pot before eating These are also the most economical to buy. NOTE - instant oats or one minute oats are not as healthy because they have been chopped too fine for healthy digestion - they digest too fast and elevate your blood sugar (high glycemic index) while providing less effective fiber. Include the very high added sugar in instant oat packets and you have a recipe for diabetes. The canister lid should be recycled and the paper canister is easy to flatten and recycle - make an X shaped cut in the bottom panel to flatten it.
