I used the self-adhesive on the mirror backings because I plan to keep these in place on an object that I own. When I order them next, I will use the Alien double stick mounting tape I prefer on the walls of the bathroom as I rent. I know that tape does not damage. I do not know about the self-adhesive on the mirrors. While I believe glass provides a superior mirror, for my needs, acrylic is preferred. It is lightweight, and not a breaking hazard. While these were a tad more expensive, the manufacturer claims these are usable in the bathroom, which the other mirrors I considered clearly stated theirs were not. I have no way of knowing why the difference. They look like the small product to me.
