3M 5480 Skived PTFE Film Tape uses a combination of low friction/non-stick polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a powerful silicone adhesive to form a tape that can be used as a quick solution to reduce friction between moving surfaces or function as an anti-stick or easy-release medium.
PTFEâs exceptional temperature range and chemical resistance make it ideal for use on equipment that is heated/may experience temperature increases while in use, as a layer of protection from chemicals that may cause buildup, or to assist in the movement of web materials in roll wrap applications.
Excellent in MRO applications to reduce squeaking, rattling, and reducing overall machine noise.
Suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -65F (-54C) to 500F (260C).
Carrier/Backing: polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) film / pure skived. Adhesive: silicone. Thickness: 3.7 mils (carrier, adhesive) 1.7 mils (adhesive) 2 mils (carrier). Adhesion: 20 ounces per inch (to stainless steel test panel). Tensile Strength: 26 pounds per inch (longitudinal). Service/Operating Temperature: -65F to 500F. Elongation: 140%. Core: 3-inch diameter.

3M™ PTFE Skived Film Tape 5480 uses a skived, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), conformable film backing. This tape offers an extremely low coefficient of friction which, in combination with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive, creates a smooth, non-stick surface over a variety of substrates to assist in the movement of web materials in many types of roll-wrap applications.
