Serial ATA, SATA abbreviated from Serial AT Attachment, is a computer bus interface that connects host bus adapters to mass storage devices such as hard disk drives, optical drives, and solid-state drives. Serial ATA succeeded the older Parallel ATA (PATA) standard, offering several advantages over the older interface: reduced cable size and cost (seven conductors instead of 40 or 80), native hot swapping, faster data transfer through higher signaling rates, and more efficient transfer through an (optional) I/O queuing protocol.
USB Attached SCSI (UAS or UASP) is a computer protocol used to move data to and from USB storage devices such as hard drives (HDDs), solid-state drives (SSDs), and thumb drives. UAS depends on the USB protocol, and uses the standard SCSI command set. Use of UAS generally provides faster transfers compared to the older USB Mass Storage Bulk-Only Transport (BOT) drivers.
This USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Adapter Cable with UASP lets you connect a 2.5" SATA hard drive or a solid state drive to your computer through an available USB port. It supports UASP, allowing for transfer speeds up to 70 percent faster than conventional USB 3.0, which enables you to utilize the full potential of your SATA III SSD/HDD when paired with a UASP-enabled host controller. This USB 3.0 to SATA adapter cable is compatible with USB 3.0/2.0/1.1 (5Gbps/480Mbps/12Mbps) and with SATA revision I/II/III (1.5/3.0/6.0Gbps). It makes it easy to swap between hard drives without having to install your drives in an enclosure.
