I find that if I use a needle-nose pliers to slightly open up the bait tab, I can get a Cheerio wedged in there so it stays and remains intact. This bait lasts up until the day a mouse discovers it! I've tried every other kind of mousetrap and the mice just laugh at them and move on.

The best mousetrap

I have tried many and wasted a lot of money on different traps. This very inexpensive and simple device is the only one that consistently traps mice at our house. They can be a little tricky to set as they have a delicate trigger. I have learned it is best to set several nearby any problem areas vs trying to tackle things one at a time.
