After having this gate for several weeks containing my two dogs, I can say it’s taken a beating and still works just fine. My cat jumps on it and launches onto the dining room table and it hasn’t imploded yet! The installation takes a few minutes and a Phillips screw driver. This will expand to 42.5 inches so with the standard doorway being 36 inches it will fit all but the widest entries. It’ll fit down to a twenty-five-inch door. The gate pivots in two hinges and latches on the opposing side with a very easy to operate catch. Works easily with one hand and latches back with a simple push. It has a stop so it won’t just swing open in the opposite direction! Very handy when carrying two full dog dishes or an infant. The latch makes a distinct click so you will be assured it has locked, no more second guessing. The gate removes from the wall simply and leaves the four wall mounts which are barely noticeable, protrude one quarter inch from wall. It comes down for parties and up again Monday to corral my dogs. The old “tension” style I had was a bear to expand just right. I adjusted this once using four Phillips screws and simply hang it in place, no guessing and no fuss and it looks classy! As a testament to the finishes durability I included a picture of how the shipping co delivered this gate, yet not a scratch on the paint or exposed latch, pretty awesome! The KidCo Safeway Hardware Mount Safety Gate is what I recommend for added safety and piece of mind for children or pets. It is designed with a heavy duty steel construction and the G2000 has a nice clean white finish so it should not interfere with your homes decor. This is hardware mount which means it is attached with screws to your frame and I find it is much more secure than my spring fitted gate. This gate is not intended to replace supervision but rather will slow or stop a child or pet ling enough to allow you to react accordingly while keeping them safe. The bars are right at 3 inches apart so it really will not stop say a cat. The gate can be temporarily removed with the locking tab on the lower hinge and then put back into place with ease. This gate also has a directional stop which is great. This is used in order to keep the gate from accidentally swinging out over the stairs. It is meant to be used at the top of the stairs but may also be used as a room divider or in a hallway. It is also adjustable from 24.75 inches to 42.5 inches. Brackets that mount in your door frame can be mounted at angles as well. Now if your child can climb I would find another solutions for safety sake. This gate is very strong but it can not replace supervision of course. Great product and I really like how well made and simple to use it is.
