The AmScope 40X-1000X Portable Student LED Compound Microscope Kit with Glass Lens & Metal Frame + Slide Kit & Book comes with a compound microscope, a 10pc slide kit and the microscope book, "The World of The Microscope". It is a great package for students to learn science. The microscope has full optical glass elements, metal framework, 360 degree rotatable monocular head, coarse & fine focusing, and LED illumination. It offers five magnification settings, 40X, 100X, 250X, 400X and 1000X. The LED illumination system uses either an outlet (adapter included) or three AA batteries (or re-chargeable batteries). The 10-piece slide kit includes five blank slides and five prepared slides: pine stem, sunflower stem, onion epidermis, cotton stem and house fly leg. This is an ideal microscopy package for home school or for students from elementary to high school. It is also an excellent instrument for hobbyists.

So this was pretty nice. But hard to figure out right away. But it does not show when you put something solid under the scope. To me that's very disappointing. I did get this for my son's birthday. I really just wish it worked a little better. Also a cover would be nice to help it not get dust all over it
