Not like a "real" mattress--more like a foam, "egg crate" style--But, very nice, and my large dog LOVES it. He is old, and has a lot of pain, arthritis, and trouble, when getting up and down, walking, etc...So, putting the bed on the floor was perfect for him. He can walk right onto it, and lay however he wants, and even uses the pillow sides, for his head! He arranges his blankets, and gets very cozy and comfortable, and it's even helping his pain, because he's not on a hard floor, or, trying to jump onto a bed, or couch, which can cause them to hurt themselves. I wish I had bought this years ago, but, it is definitely worth the money!! And, I will be buying another one, if this one wears out, in time. ( So far, this has held it's shape, and has stayed thick, and comfortable!)

My 8 YO GSD has some hip arthritis starting, and doesn't like the fluffy dog beds anymore. So I ordered her this memory foam bed, and it's her new favorite spot. :-) She loves laying on it, and sneers at the other dog when she comes close (get away from MY bed). LOL! We've had so many dog beds for our GSDs over the last 35 years (some very expensive ones, I'm sad to report), and this one impresses me more than any other. Great price, great memory foam support for my beloved baby, and the cover removes easily to wash it. A . Will buy again and again.
