It will do

OK, so we were looking for a rack that would go inside the bed of the truck and we wouldn't have to take off the wheels. we want to tow a travel trailer, so we didn't want a hitch type. of note we specifically bought a truck with a 6'5" truck bed for this purpose to make sure the bikes would fit inside the bed of the truck. the options for in-bed bike racks are very limited out there, so we were excited to see this option, and especially to see that you could manage 4 bikes. now I gotta say, that it works, but not as easy as you think. 1st. if you were to try 4 bikes at once you have to plan out very well the bikes starting from passenger side to drivers side, some have to be backed in and the others forward because the handlebars will hit. I say that you have to go passenger side to drivers side because of the ratchet system which is on the L side of the wheel. Once you get in a bike you wouldn't be able to get in between the bikes to put in the last bike in the 2nd or third position, if the other positions are already filled. we have two style of bikes. road and touring bikes with panniers/racks/fenders. We were worried about the fenders/racks, but we were actually able to put in the bike backwards. the 700/40 cc tires fit ok into the "Taco stands" as the instructions call the cup and ratchet systems to hold the wheels. (per notes it will NOT FIT FAT TIRE) our skinny road tires (700/25) actually are mildly lose inside the "taco stands". the ratchet system for the tire is very close to the bed of the trunk and difficult to manipulate. so does it work? yes. is it the easiest to use? no. we have used hitch racks for years and I can get a bike on that rack within seconds...but this one takes a lot of planning. but it will allow 4 bikes to travel in the bed of the truck, leaving the hitch free for a travel trailer. we went for a ride with all the bikes in the back of the truck and it all stayed secure.
