Way better than I hoped for

I wasn't expecting too much when I ordered this book online. The one photo seen here online really doesn't do it justice. For one thing, the colors of the book cover are much more vivid than the photo depicts. The green is very bright, more like a "forest green" shade. The one image on the front actually has brighter colors and looks more detailed. This online listing should have also shown examples of some of the excellent and timeless artwork that is inside the book. Along with the artwork, the inside cover even has the old "This book belongs to" place for a kid to write their name, just like books of the old days. Besides the book's beautiful gold embossment, it even includes a green ribbon that matches the color of the cover to mark your place in the book. So besides the solid quality of the hardcover book, it's beautiful to look at. It includes a table of contents listing all the Brothers Grimm's best short fairy tales listed in the orignal English versions of their story titles. The thing I liked best about the book is that it is good for kids, but yet not the santized Disney version at all so adults that had happy memories of reading these stories can enjoy reading them again as a walk through memory lane. The only drawback is my kids will have to battle with me to get a chance to read the short stories. I'm already having trouble putting the book down. And for what it's worth, forget any cartoon version you saw of fairty tales. Don't expect that when you read this book. Expect the original story that used the beautiful writing talents of the Brothers Grimm.
