Super cast iron grill not only for Broil King!!

I bought the 19 inches grill to replace my Patio Range BBQ grills because I was looking for cast iron grill. It fits well in the BBQ, the grills are thick and the cast is clean. These should last a long time.

Built to last. Old warranty was 10 yrs. New is 15

I have owned a Regal 490 for 13 years which came with actual cast iron grids. Initially I seasoned them with actual pork lard which is best obtained from hispanic grocery store. NOT VEGETABLE OIL. Prior to cooking apply a lite coat and again after. If not coated after, some of the lard will have burned off the surface, if cooking too hot. If it is not seasoned after cooking as such, IT WILL RUST WHERE THE LARD BURNED OFF. Simply wire brush and season again. At 10 years, I replaced all of the internal burners. etc, and cast iron grids. The same happens if you do not take care of a cast iron skillet. No to my question: My 13 year old Regal 490 blue over last week in 87 MPH winds from wind. Outside, not a scratch. Inside was destroyed, firebox, burners, all stainless steel. Grids survived. I am looking to buy another Regal S 490 or S 590 Pro. I called regal and talked to Cust Svs. I was told they both came with cast iron grids. However, all literature states the grids are stainless steel. One placed mentioned cast aluminum. Can I get cast iron WITHOUT porcelen with the Regal Grill ?

Just like a sprinter, great coming out of the gate

I loved my Regal 440 right from the start. Great look, great heat & temperature control and the cast iron grids made for great grilling appearance. However like many others, the grids are rusting badly, starting to peel/fall apart and pieces get into food that is placed directly on the grid. Had my bbq for less than four years, regular maintenance and cleaning, always covered and under shelter......but there was no stopping the grid problem. What to do now?? Spend the money on new cast iron and have the problem re-occur a couple years down the road or spend an awful lot of money on the stainless grids? Too bad, because overall bbq is amazing and I would recommend to others, but cooking grids are kind of an important feature.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry to learn about the issue you are having with your cooking grids. Cast iron grids are great for delivering even heat and steakhouse sear marks but require regular seasoning to maintain their finish. We will be following up via email to learn more and discuss the replacement options available.
