No directions voltage regulator

The power point will fit most cars, but there was NO directions with it. The ad made it sound like it was adjustable, but there is no way to manually change anything? I am hoping it electronically senses the correct voltage, but am a little scared of burning something out trying it as 12 volts into a battery of 9.1 volt could be a hazzard.
