Durability for rough roads and a lot of miles

Living in the mountains on a somewhat rocky dirt road necessitates a solid tire. I recently replaced my 2015 Outback that had 200k miles, with a new, used Outback Wilderness. It came with brand new 3 peak rated tires, but they just looked too much like a tire that lives on paved roads, so I chose to have my fairly used, over 34k mile, Trail-Terrain tires transferred to the new car instead of the brand new tires. The Trail-Terrain tires are looking way better at this milage than previous brands I've had. They have the right amount of off road ability that I need, and have the 3 peak rating, although there is no driving up my steep dirt road when there is snow. They now have 40k miles on them and I am amazed at the longevity compared to others in the class that I've had.

Great tires

I chose the Trail-Terrain BFGs because they were as close to “off-road” as I could find without a lot of lug noise. They handle well for highway travel - smooth and quiet. On rough gravel roads they have good traction and control. I haven’t been in any mud yet so can’t comment on that. So far, about 10,000km and no noticeable wear. They look good and I would recommend them for most pickup trucks.
