Good shorts but the old ones were better

I have been wearing the Zion shorts for years. When I needed to repurchase a few pairs I found they had changed in a few subtle, and not better, ways. First off, the new shorts no longer have a metal button and the position of the button has changed. Not terrible but definitely not an improvement. Second, the fabric is slightly different. It is less "cotton like" and more synthetic. So much so that there is a slight sheen to the fabric. Definitely not better. Other than those changes the shorts are about the same. I wish they had left short perfection alone but even with the changes they are still good shorts. They just aren't great anymore.

The originals are better.

I have three pair of Zion Shorts and they are my go-to wear from April to September. I added a pair to get a new color I didn't have. Well, it's a bummer. The cloth is different and has micro-snags on them after wearing them for a few days. I shaved them off with a razor like I do with sweater pills, but this is the first time I've had to. The new bottom looks cheaper. All in all, I just hope my older shorts hold up until they fix this.

Good fit, nice fabric, but quality not as good as in the past

These are my go to shorts. I've had a couple of different pairs for the last few years and they are still going strong. One of those pairs has the hem stitching coming loose so I bought the new model. I would rank the older ones that I have a 5. Then new model is still a great fit, a little different styling with new buttons, and the fabric is noticeably different. I've had the shorts for a couple of weeks, wearing them as I would, no more or less than other clothes, including the older pair of shorts with the hem coming undone, and the seat is already pilly. My first pair of shorts is still going strong, no pillyness anywhere. Thankfully I like the style enough to keep wearing them but this is a downgrade from my first few pairs. Encouragement to bring back the previous fabric.
