Great hands-on lab

This lab was well-designed and the materials were easily usable. The lancets were a small needle that pushed out from inside a container and then retracted, so not as dangerous as I initially thought. Students also found that it was less painful than they expected. One thing that might improve the quality would be the paper wells for the test - some students found it difficult to mix on the paper because the solution would get slightly absorbed by the paper. Also, it does not come with a biohazard bag, so be aware of that for planning purposes.

Easy to use

This is an economical way to do blood-typing for a class, even for a small class. The serum will keep in the refrigerator up to a year, so I purchase mid-year at the time of the genetics unit and do one class. Then I save it until the beginning of the following school year and do that year's class early. This provides data for students to figure out their own genotypes as well as genotypes of some family members, using other known family data. The kit is very easy to use and gives accurate results.
