40 size wood floats

Very nice floats worth every penny. They work fantastic and come with the steering rudder which I did not notice when I first bought mine.

Easy set up, works very well

As anything with covering you need to iron it down well before use, and after every few uses. We are dealing with water and for me glow fuel. I installed these floats on a H9 Saratoga (my first float plane), they installed easily, I like the servo in the float for the rudder operation. My plane didn't change much at all with these floats installed. Still will knife edge forever, loops, rolls, spins, etc. The only real change was to my vertical performance. I would buy these again as long as it was designed for these floats; Saratoga, Cub, Toledo, etc. If I have to put mounting blocks in the plane and make a wire/metal gear I would use foam core balsa covered floats. They are lighter. Steve

hanger 9 40 Size float building design issues

Purchased Hanger 9 40 size floats for my Toledo special, and soon to come piper cub 40 ARF. Ironed all surface bubbles, and seams. Read instruction manual. Found no instruction about how to keep water from entering the push rod exit tube! Returned to the hobby shop and purchased a push rod water proof boot kit. (Great planes includes this part with their floats). Invented a way to make a water tight seal for servo cover using plastic wrap in between, and a bead of canopy adhesive. Also used this adhesive under gear mounting brackets to prevent water from seeping into screw holes. Found a tight spot in push rod tube inside float where it is routed through a support bracket, causes strain on servo. Poor location of rudder control arm in relation to push rod allows very little deflection of rudder. Rudder shaft is so tight in bracket, again strain on servo.
