Useful Tool - Liked Old Style Handle Better

This hoe has many uses. The head is much larger and heavier than a regular hoe, so just by its weight, it does some of the work for you. It is good for taking out rocks, or leveling a small area. I have 2 of these, one with an older-style handle, which is much more curved. I think the feeling is more balanced when working with the curved handle.

Hard to find handle

I bought a grub hoe-head in a second hand store with the thought I'd be able to find a handle at one of the local hardware stores. No such luck on the handle locally, but Lehman's had one that looked just the ticket. Lehman's online check out was straight forward, and the hoe handle arrived within Lehman's time window. The handle is well designed and made from hickory. In particular I like the double bend of the handle which gives you better body mechanics than a straight handle. There is a miss match between the eye of my hoe-head and the hoe handle. The handle is a bit on the small side for the eye of my hoe-head, but time spent in a bucket of water swelled the handle to a decent fit. However, if I had been in a store and looked at the mismatch, I probably would have held out for a better fitting handle.
