Gigatent Tekman 2....

I was in the market for a small "1-2" person tent that was under $100, and this is the one I chose..it had all the features I was looking for in a new and interesting frame design that I'v never seen before. I am so use to the basic X frame tents that I wanted something new, and this one based on the description and pictures was like " pick me!" This was a new company for me so I had to do some reading/research before I chose to order it, the colors are another thing that drew me to it! The tent I ordered had to be green, and as soon as I saw this tent I know it was the one lol... Its a beautiful tent :) Build quality: The overall build quality was quiet good on this tent! I found many random pieces of thread dangling from every corner of the tent, inside and out...and that was the only the I saw that I didn't like, so I spent a few mins with a pair of scissors and cut all the thread pieces off that were hanging! I could have left them but everything needs to be perfect or close lol... The poles are generic poles that you see with a regular cheap tent, I was really hoping to see nicer ones at best, these poles looked old and or dirty or maybe it was the material used for the poles...besides the looks of them they worked fine and with no issues... The sewing for the tent and all seams/windows looked great though! There's only 1 spot I see on one of the rain fly hooks built into the side of the tent body that might need me to do a few minutes hand sowing just to make sure its on there secure, all the rest are bomb proof, but one looked iffy... The zippers were all perfect! very smooth...easy to open or close with no problems at all... Inside: The inside of the tent is a different layout then I'm use to, mainly because of the way the frame uses LONG poles to cross over each other but also stay on their own sides, it took me a few minutes trying to figure it out because as normal the instructions are not much help! Very cheap/cheesy instructions! The info in them about the basic care for the tent was nice and helpful but as far as setting the tent up, just look at the pics of the tent without the rainfly, the images along with the instructions should get you the tent body up without much problem, and once you do it once you wont ever forget or have a problem! The INSIDE of the tent is my favorite part :) It's different in that it's rather tall for how small the tent is, regardless of how tall you are you could be sitting inside this tent and wont have to worry about hitting any part of the ceiling... There are 2 nice tightly sewn in pockets on both sides of the tent, which will come in handy for putting personal items in ect, also comes with a cool little gear loft at the top of the tent that hooks securely and will easily take the weight of a little lantern, or what ever you would like out of the way, the pockets and the gear loft were a feature I had to have in the tent I chose as well so I was happy to see them both! There plenty of air flow through the tent with the mesh design along with the window that can zip up or down, and can be wrapped up and hooked to keep it out of the way while open, the door aslo has this feature, as well as the rainfly... Rainfly: The rainfly looks very well made! Even comes with the seams in the rainfly tapped to help keep rain leaking through at a minimum :) Even without adding some good seam sealer to the seams the rainfly appears to be very well made and I would bet money that it would keep you dry right out of the box! The rainfly connects to the tent with a couple clips, easy and effective... It can also be tide from underneath in case windy conditions arise, The rainfly goes just about to the forest floor which will keep you warm and dry as the rain would be forced to travel down and away from the tent, comes with 11 stakes, and some guy lines which you can tie down the tent even further for windy/stormy conditions...the 2 flaps on the sides of the tent open like little fresh air pockets that will keep the mugginess to a minimum! With all the features this tent has, it would be very hard to get them all in one tent, and looked this cool and be as effective for less money! Overall: I think this tent would be perfect for a farther/son adventure, that's why I bought it and my kid even thinks it cool! My dad got me into camping early and I was hooked not long after, now 15 years later and having a 4 year old, I can't wait to get him into the fun and exciting adventures of camping/fishing :) I think the poles should have been either aluminum or at the very least, been a little nicer looking but their just poles and not really seen anyways, probably me just being picky! The inside of the tent might look cramped for 2 people when you first get the tent set up without the rainfly, but if you pulled the guy lines tight on the front/back and both sides tightly and the right way, it will supply an 24" of width on the inside which is much needed if you will be having 2 people in the tent..unless of course your in relations with the person your camping with lol... This tent fit the bill perfect for me, I love the overall look, build quality and colors... As well as all of the many features this tent offers, and I don't think there's many tents out there for under $100 that will beat this... A very sturdy, well built 1-2 person tent with everything you could want in a small and beautiful looking tent, Hope someone finds this review helpful, I normally don't spend this much time on a review but I felt this tent deserved it :) Will be using this tent tonight for the first time to bring me kiddo camping by the river, should be fun!

not water proof

Although I haven' t used the tent at this time I set it up in the back yard.(easy) We had a good 5 days of rain at times moderate. Inspection showed a fair amount of water pooling. (wouldn't want my equipment in there to get wet). I think the problem is the rain fly does not cover the bottom floor seam. I plan to seal it before I use it. Also, doesn't seem to measure 5' in width but I think it's great for 2 people who love each other. All in all I like the tent

Tent did it's job

I took this tent for a trip where it rained all weekend. Tent held up well, 2nd night of hard rain started to get small drops at the seams. Overall kept my gear dry. I opened tent at home prior to camping and found 1 seam split on the pole guides had to sew it up. The tent was under 50 bucks you get what you pay for. Camped next to a couple guys with about same size but much lighter, the difference about 2 pounds and 300 bucks I take this tent any day. I was able to sit up inside the tent and liked the side door much better than climbing over my gear with a front open tent. Overall can't beat this tent for price and
