This sewing machine is the best suited for beginners who want to lern the basics without having to make huge investments. I bought this for my 11 year old niece who loves to craft. She outgrew her kiddie one and can easily use this. She loves the foot pedal attachment. Stitches are still little rough though but a great mimi machine for first timers. The extension board is definitely worth extra bucks.
