Expectations of purchase

I'm happily surprised that the machete is of such great quality and exactly as I expected after the description on the item, great thickness on the blade and real wooden handle. 💯

Tramontina machetes. Still the best.

Though I have never purchased the 18” Tramontina from Wally World, I use this exact model. There is simply no better machete available. There are a few that I’d say are comoarible, as far as quality and durability are concerned, but they are typically twice as expensive. How about machetes tgat are mire rugged, tougher, can chop down a two hundred tyear old oak??!! Grrr! lol... well, yeah, you can find those. And they ARE A HOOT to play with. But, are they practical? Would you trade in your axe ir machete for such a tough, heavy blade that not nearly as precise and efficient as even the cheapest hatchet. I’d certainly hope not. If you think you need a machete for really tough jobs, like chopping down trees with a trunk thats a foit ir more in diameter, then I assure you, you will end up cussing yourself for bring a tank machete instead if a hatchet ir axe. So, that leaves us to consider lighter chores, for which a hatchet or axe would simply be too fatiguing to use, such as chopping up twigs, even small branches for kindling and firewood, or clearing weeds, vines, etc. I look at it like this: if you want a REAL pizza, go to Italy. If you want a machete that cheap, durable and versitle, but doesnt sacrifice quality, go to Brazil, or, just buy a Tramontina. Keep in mind: the Teamontinas are meant for hard labor, daily chores, survival, and even self-defense. Notice how I never mentioned asthetics? lol... thats because the people who have used and perfected various machete designs for centuries are not as concerned with their tools being “pretty.” She may be a bit homely, but she puts out. LOL... just sayin’! I keep reading reviews from people who complain about the last 2 to 3 inches of the edge, up to the tip, is flat. And i mean F-L-A-T! You could drag that section if the Tramontina across your skin til doomsday, and you want even have a scratch. THIS IS NOT A FACTORY ERROR, DEFECT, OR QAUALITY CONTROL ISSUE Not only do machetes come in different styles, each style being a but better than others at certain tasks, the actual grind, the edge, is just as varied, and fir the same reason. Tramontinas have a completely flat, dull edge around the tip because machetes are often used to dig, pry, etc. If the final portion of the edge were sgarp, and the tip not dull and rounded a bit, the nachete would be far more likely to break at the tip. This is kniwn as the Goucho Grind (im sure i mispelled it, but its clise enough you can find info about it easily. Now, I prefer my machetes to have this grind. It not only makes them more versitile, but a bit safer as well. Machete sheaths are often comp, etely absent, or poorly made. I have destroyed a machete sheath, and cut myself, more than once because the machete i was using was sho sharp, and so fine a tip, it sliced right trough the sheath. Love em’. Reccomend them. Best machete of all time, hands down.
