Good, but be conscious of your configuration

I have two of these batteries (and I also have four other stock batteries (EFLB18003S); I use all 6 batteries for the Blade400 helicopter (EFLH1400)). This actual battery works fine. I did have to replace the stock ESC (EFLA325H). However, I believe this may be due to the fact that I have a non-stock motor (EFLM1360H). During the use of this battery (with stock ESC and non-stock motor) I found that after 2 minutes the helicopter would severly lose power. I believe the stock ESC went into a thermal protection mode perhaps. Anyhow, this behaviour would never occur with the stock batteries. As a workaround I decided to set my throttle curve to use much less power (52% at the highest stick setting). This worked great for a couple of weeks until one day I flipped the stunt mode switch on my transmitter (DX6i) and down came the helicopter, I performed a safe autorotation landing, luckily. Power to the motor was cut; servos still had power though. I believe the stunt mode switch had caused too many amps to flow through the stock ESC. The ESC no longer functions, it provides power to servos but no longer provides power to motor. Thus, I replaced it with a higher amp ESC. One other thing to note, this battery does weigh a little bit more, but it is not a problem as you can simply use the trim on the transmitter to compensate. PS: the replacement ESC I have been using now for about 2 weeks is: EFLA1040; this one is bigger then stock so it did not fit in the same position. I ended up mounting it underneath the helicopter. FYI, I have not tried the stunt mode switch yet with this new ESC.

Surprised by Weight

I have two of these, or should I say the former version of this, and decided to buy a third. I took two flights with the former batteries and then decided to take one more with this new battery. On takeoff I was immediately in trouble with the nose pitching upward. It took every ounce of skill and a bit of luck to get her back on the ground. Seems like I was on the hairy edge with the CG of the plane and much to my surprise, this battery was lighter than its predecessors enough to make the plane tail heavy. I confirmed this by weighing all three of them. Lighter batteries are a good thing, but in this case caused me to almost lose my plane...
