Duolingo Access Card paperback

I guess I was confused about the item I was purchasing. I thought it was a used book but the access card (I'm assuming what this is) came with a code to scratch off. There is no instructions other than a website that takes me to a search page for information only and there is no books. I have no clue how or where to redeem this code. I feel like I just got ripped off and very disappointed. Maybe I'll figure it out but it shouldn't be this difficult.
