Good, Soothing Anti-itch Shampoo

My senior Havanese suffers from food related allergies which cause him to have itchy, crusty patches across his back. Despite being on a specia diet and prednisone, he will still have break through reactions, so I bathe him every week with an Anti-Itch Shampoo. This shampoo has oatmeal and other natural ingredients and the lather is silky and easy to rinse off. He seems to be much more comfortable after being bathed with Clinic-Aid Anti-Itch Shampoo. It doesn't dry his skin out too much, which has happened with other shampoos I've tried in the past. This shampoo is soap free, Paraben free and dye free. If your dog suffers from itchy skin, this product is definitely worth a try.

Good OTC pet shampoo for mild itchy allergies

I ordered Clinic Aid Clinical Anti-Itch Shampoo, in the 16oz size, to try on my ten year old beagle mix dog, because the description says it provides soothing relief from itching and allergies. Our dog has always suffered from dry, itchy skin, and allergies. She is constantly scratching and licking. At times, her scratching causes her skin to look pink, irritated, or inflamed. She has even been prescribed allergy medication by our veterinarian, but she has a sensitive stomach and doesn't tolerate medications well. We have tried prescription dog shampoo as well, but got only limited results. This Clinic Aid Clinical Anti-Itch Shampoo smells better and lathers more than the prescription dog shampoo we tried. And the Clinic Aid brand did give our poor dog some relief from her dry, itchy skin. And it cleaned well with no harsh effects The label says you can use this shampoo on dogs and cats, age 12 weeks or older. The description also states that this shampoo is specially formulated to be deep cleaning, yet gentle, soothing, moisturizing and conditioning. I like that most of the ingredients listed on the label are plant-derived ingredients that I recognize. Coconut cleansers, colloidal oatmeal, aloe, yucca, tea tree oil, and vitamin E are all ingredients I've seen commonly touted to be beneficial for human skin as well as pet skin. I also like that this shampoo's directions are basic, in that you use it as you would any other over the counter pet shampoo. The only difficulty for us personally, is bathing our fussy dog at all, because she hates getting a bath. So, we have not used this product for very long. But I can say she seems less itchy after each shampoo, and along with a list of good ingredients, ease-of-use, availability over the counter, and the economical price, I would recommend Clinic Aid Clinical Anti-Itch Shampoo.

Oatmeal baths aren't just for humans anymore

The most attractive feature of this Naturel clinical anti-itch shampoo for me is that it is colloidal oatmeal-based, which directly targets itchy, irritated and inflamed skin. Considering I have a long-haired Labradoodle who is hypoallergenic but breaks out often with skin infections and hot spots I am always looking for non-prescription treatment options. This is a natural soap-free product with moisturizing ingredients such as vitamin E, aloe and tea tree oil. Because of this, the shampoo leaves behind soft skin and fur after rinsing. It lathers well, and carries a mild and clean scent. My dog does not chew or scratch his skin as often after his baths, and I plan to use this shampoo throughout the allergy season.
