When successful New York editor Jen Gibbs discovers a decaying slush-pile manuscript on her desk, she has no idea that the story of Sarra, a young mixed-race woman trapped in Appalachia at the turn of the twentieth century, will both take her on a journey and change her forever. Happy with her life in the city, and at the top of her career with a new job at Vida House Publishing, Jen has left her Appalachian past and twisted family ties far behind. But the search for the rest of the manuscript, and Jen's suspicions about the identity of its unnamed author, will draw her into a mystery that leads back to the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains . . . and quite possibly through the doors she thought she had closed forever.

Lisa WIngate-Master Storyteller!

The Story Keeper By Lisa Wingate *Book Description* Jen Gibbs is trying her best to prove her worth the small publishing firm where she works, so naturally she's horrified when a piece of the one thing she's not supposed to touch ends up on her desk. A manuscript from Slush Mountain. Torn between sneaking out to put the book back and digging into it's pages, Jen decides maybe it couldn't hurt to take a peak. When the pages are filled with mystery, secrecy, and an air of realism, she realizes she needs to find the author to the secret masterpiece. Determining she knows the answer, she sets out only to find the author suffering from problems and issues of his own. When a real life mystery ensues, Jen knows she must know the answer...but will they ever unveil what they're looking for? Will they even know? *What I liked* Though I've never read Lisa Wingate before, I felt this was a nice start. Believable characters, a surprising story line, and deep faith and mystery throughout the book colors every page of this 400+ page book. *What I didn't like* Though overall I liked the book, I faced many of the issues a normal reader faces. I was completely confused until about halfway through the book. I liked that the author switched from one regular chapter to one chapter from the manuscript but at the same time you have to be fully alert and on edge to know what's going on. *My Rating* I give The Story Keeper... 5 stars!! *My overall opinion* The Story Keeper is complex and amazing and is not at all how you expect it to be, making it a deep read. Make sure to add this one to your shelf but don't pull it out until you're sure you're ready for this twisty, special, edge of your seat read! *I received this book from bookfun.org and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts were my own and I was not compensated in any other way. http://bookreviewsforchristians.blogspot.com/2015/01/tyndale-review-story-keeper-by-lisa.html

Get this book!

Get this book, and then make sure you have all day to read it. I could not put The Story Keeper down. I even considered not doing my hair for church so I could read more. Lisa Wingate draws you into two stories at the same time, which is incredible! I was a little intimidated when I read some of the other reviews. I either love a book or hate it, and this one I loved with out a doubt! Wingate takes you to another place and time. She opened my eyes to some things that I couldn't imagine happening, but know that they do. Jen Gibbs finally lands her dream job at Vida House Publishing. She feels like she is on cloud 9 every time she goes to work. When an aged manuscript appears on her desk she doesn't know what to do, but her curiosity gets the best of her. Now that shes' read it, she yearns for more. Where are the other chapters? Who is they mystery writer? Jen has a hunch, but what if she's wrong? Is it worth the possibly losing her job over? Join Jen on this amazing life altering journey. She must face some of her past, and learn to trust in the One True God. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Fiction. I have never read a book quite like this, and would love to see more. Wingate did an amazing job, and I will be looking for more of her books in the future. I received a copy of this book from Tyndale House Publishers and TBCN in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
