These work better than the "Y" clips also commonly found, especially if you are dealing with weathered, old bricks like "Old Chicago" style as these clamp firmly onto the entire face of the brick and can handle the imperfections of these kinds of brick's jagged edge. I am dealing with "Old Chicago" style bricks and have had so much trouble with the "Y" clips (which rely on tension between a bottom and top brick to stay in place) as my bricks themselves do no have a consistent 90 degree edge, and in some places have too wide of a gap between the top and bottom brick to create the tension to hold them in place. Please be aware that these clips as well as the "Y" clips require a good 1/4" depth between the brick and the mortar as they have teeth that need to catch onto the top and a tension bar that has to catch on to the bottom of the brick. If your bricks and mortar are one flat piece of wall (and a lot of new construction is exactly that!), neither clips nor "Y" brackets will work. You will need to drill. I use these brick clips to hang Christmas neon light flat sculptures on my brick outside walls and they can take a good amount of weight with no problem. Easy to install, and easy removal after the holidays. Works both for inside and outdoors. Highly recommend!!!

These clips are fantastic for decorating the fireplace w/o drilling holes in the bricks. They are easy to use and best, reusable.
