The Hayward Pro S310T2 30-Inch In-Ground Swimming Pool Sand Filter is a high-performance filter that combines superior filtration and features with ease of operation. This top-mount sand filtration system is recommended for in-ground pools of all types and sizes, as well as in-ground spas and water features such as fish ponds and water gardens. Corrosion-proof, heavy-duty filter tank is injection molded of tough, durable polymer for dependable all-weather performance. The flange-clamp design allows 360-degree rotation for easy installation. Integral top diffuser ensures even distribution of water over the entire sand bed for maximum use of the filtration area. Precision-engineered umbrella-folding, self-cleaning laterals allow for balanced flow and backwashing, plus easy servicing. A 7-position Hayward VariFlo control valve with easy-to-use lever-action handle lets you dial any of the filter functions. An integral sight glass lets you see when backwash cycle is completed.

Delivery is fast, which is helpful when things are needing to be replaced asap. I now see the difference in the filter with a valve on top vs valve on side. I had one with valve on the side and switched to one with a valve on top. I didn't understand why there was such a price difference but now I do. If you don't have an excellent pump and use the top valve filter, the pressure in the skimmers is reduced due to the water needing to be pushed up into the filter as opposed to pvc pipes being at same level of filter. I learn something new every year about pools.
