The Current Leader in Camp Stoves

Stansport propane 3-burner camp stove arrived double boxed and in perfect condition. Stove on initial inspection was visually perfect, with no dents, no sharp edges, or any other visual defects. In addition to the stove, I bought the 5' Stansport hose to connect to my 20 lb blue rino tank. The hose fit perfect on initial test connection on both ends. Make sure to push both ends into the receiving cylinders on each side, then hand tighten. Firing Up Stove: I have a nice Coleman dual fuel powerhouse liquid fuel stove that I have used for years and is great! However, the Stansport once connected to the 20lb propane tank is a much better solution in so many ways. Once I connected the Stansport up for initial cooking, the first thing I noticed was the ease of how quickly the burners fired up. The piezo electronic ignition on the Standport allows you to avoid having to stick your fingers near the burner with a match when initially lighting the stove, and worked perfect for all burners. The power and heat this thing puts out is simply amazing!! My Coleman puts out I think about 17k BTUs across two burners. However, in comparison the Stansport stove puts out 50,000 BTUs across two burners, and when you add in the center burner (10,000 BTUs), the total is a whopping 60,000 BTUs for this stove. Amazing!! Functionality: Another great feature of this stove compared to my very nice Coleman, is that the Stansport stove burners really allow you to dial in the perfect adjustments for each burner flame. It was difficult to simmer dishes such as camp beans on my Coleman, however, the Stansport stove easily accommodated by just a slight turn of the dial to lower the flame to simmer my dish. Another great feature of this stove, is that you can move a boiling pot to the center burner to keep warm since this burner has a lower BTU than the two outside burners. I really like the attention to detail by Stansport with the two positive spring-loaded clasps (lid fasteners) on this stove. My Coleman has two lid clasps also, however the Stansport engineers made a great decision in making these spring-loaded or tensioned so that the lid stays securely closed when not being used. After Use: Clean up was a breeze with the Stansport stove. I let my mother do some cooking on it over Mother's Day weekend. She loved it - maybe a little too much! However, she got carried away in that she wanted to see how it compared to her expensive home stove wanting to try so many different dishes on it - corn, peas, beans, rice, coffee, a skillet to make pancakes, scrambled eggs, etc. Needless to say, over a couple of days she made some delicious dishes, although she inadvertently spilled some things under the grates in the process. A few days after the parents left, I got around to cleaning up the stove and was amazed at how easy everything cleaned up! Simply, I removed the three grates and just wiped down the stainless steel cooking area with a mild cleaner, and voila everything was back anew. In short, this is an amazing outdoor, or camping stove that I hope its longevity is as good as its functionality, power and ease of use.

Well built stove

Always put Stansport stoves on the "back burner" of consideration in the past but, reading recent reviews convinced me to finally replace my 20+ year old liquid fuel Coleman. So much easier to setup and use! The quality and apparent durability of construction makes me think it will be another 20 years before I need to start looking for a new camping stove. The burner output is amazing and the simmering control is really impressive. The only thing I have reservations about are the side wind shield attachments. Just a little fiddly to get the little tabs inserted. Do like the fact that they lay flat and act as a little shelf in low wind conditions and make room for larger pots. This was my first experience purchasing from Walmart online and I'm guessing their acquisition of Jet.com contributed to the fair pricing, ease of purchase and on time delivery. Satisfied customer!

Negative reviews are hogwash.

I read the good reviews and the negative ones as well. Read other website reviews of this product. As I read the negative ones, I thought, "no one can stay in business producing a product as junky as is described in the negative reviews". Almost didn't purchase the stove because of the bad reviews. Those that posted positive reviews seemed quite pleased with their stoves. So I purchased one, knowing I could return it if it was really a bad product. After picking it up at Walmart, I unpacked it and inspected the stove for build quality and overall performance. The stove is very well built, no you don't need "a nickel under the back leg, or maybe two" for stability; the flame does have a wide range of adjustment, from low simmer to very high; no, the stove is not a dangerous and hazardous product; no the build quality is not "inferior". The stove was actually sturdier than I had expected it to be. Took 9 friends and my new stove to Roan Mountain, TN this past weekend and really had a great time. We did plenty of cooking on this stove and a few other stoves that were brought. This 3 burner Stansport was fantastic! I was very pleased with the performance of the product; especially with all of the different types of foods that were prepared; scrambled eggs, which are easily scorched, to sautéed vegetables and different kinds of meats. Yes the stove gets a pot of water boiling quickly, on the high setting. Yes the high setting is a blazer, but the low setting is a low, easy simmer; don't believe the nonsense about unmanageable flames shooting out of this stove; pure nonsense. We ate well and we're quite satisfied. In conclusion I say that this product has gotten an undue and unfair bad rap. The bad reviews didn't match up with my experience this past weekend and almost seemed to be a bit duplicitous. The stove was actually better than I expected.
