I am very fond of old school round reels for bass fishing. Something of the nostalgia makes the catches that much more enjoyable. I purchased this reel to pitch 5/8 shakey heads and big texas rigged worms for deep water summertime off shore fishing. The castability and distance is much better than my low profile baitcatsers. Spooled with 12lb line and matched with a St.Croix 7' Triumph MH casting rod, I can place these lures well off the ledge and drag it uphill to catch deep bass. The extra distance helps the lure settle down father away and keeps the bait in the strike zone longer. This reel is perfect for long cast and with the retrieve speed of 6:4-1, I can get to the next cast much quicker.
