great for non traditional use

Used in Conjunction smooth crown molding to make a LED tape light cove. Worked great. With the easy to work with foam, it was a breeze to dado a groove in the top of the chair rail to inset the tape light. fixtures shone up on the cove to add a decorative warmth to the room. With it being foam, I probably would not recommend this for a true chair rail as it could not take the abuse of being constantly bumped.

Chair rail used for fireplace

I used this chair rail on the front edge of fireplace top below a granite top worked very well. Easy to cut and took paint well. I used glue and pin nails because the material is soft.
